Bakery Associate
Job Summary
Aids in the daily operations of the bakery department. Enhances customer confidence and loyalty through consistent and compliant operating conditions. Serves fresh and appealing products with courteous, knowledgeable, and prompt service.
Responsibilities
SERVICE: 60% - Creates welcoming environment, meets product availability, freshness, quality, and value standards. Offers samples, answers questions, and assists customers. Ensures customer requests and special orders are fulfilled.
LEADERSHIP: 20% - Promotes trust and respect among associates through collaboration, teamwork, and communication. Adheres to local, state, and federal laws and company guidelines.
FINANCIAL: 10% - Maintains inventory, inspects products for quality and freshness, prepares, packages, labels, and displays products for sale. Uses production planning tools to produce fresh products and follows discard/markdown processes. Ensures products are held at proper temperatures and records temperature logs. Ensures compliance with safety, proper food handling, sanitation, and productivity standards. Executes product recalls and withdrawals promptly.
COMPLIANCE/SAFETY: 10% - Maintains safety standards, adheres to regulatory compliance requirements, and reports and assists with remediation of safety hazards. Ensures adherence to wage and hour policies. Cultivates a culture of safety. Ensures equipment is in good repair and personal protective equipment is available and utilized.
Qualifications
Education: Required - None. Preferred - High School/GED.
Language: Required - English. Preferred - Spanish.
Experience: Required - 0-3 years supervisory experience. Preferred - Additional relevant experience.
Skills & Abilities: Must be 18 years old. Authorization to work in the United States or the ability to obtain the same. Successful completion of pre-employment drug testing and background check. Strong customer service, interpersonal, motivational, and communication skills. Operates bakery equipment according to company guidelines.

Exposed to working in indoor, outdoor, cold, freezing, heated, and wet/humid conditions. Exposed to twisting back and/or neck, walking on slippery or cluttered floors, working with hazardous equipment, and being exposed to sharp objects.

Required Equipment: Cleaning supplies and equipment, general office equipment, register, pricing gun, scales, scanner, various material handling equipment, such as racks, carts, pallet jacks, shopping carts. Department-specific equipment: Powered cutting equipment, such as slicers, saws, grinders, various knives, various ovens, stoves, rotisseries, fryers, steamers, proofer, wrapping equipment. Preferred equipment: Balers/compactors, general hardware tools such as ladders, pliers, wire cutters, box cutters. Personal Protective Equipment: Goggles, gloves, cutting gloves, fryer gloves, oven gloves, back braces, pulling requirement: 250 lbs. Lifting requirement: 35 lbs.
