Job Summary

Aids in the daily operations of the bakery department. Enhances customer confidence and loyalty through consistent and compliant operating conditions. Ensures fresh and appealing products, courteous, knowledgeable, and prompt service.

Responsibilities

  • SERVICE: 60%

    • Creates welcoming, respectful, and appreciative customer environment.
    • Maintains at-shelf product availability, freshness, quality, and value.
    • Offers product samples, answers questions, and assists customers.
    • Fulfills customer requests and special orders.
  • LEADERSHIP: 20%

    • Promotes trust and respect among associates through collaboration, teamwork, and communication.
    • Adheres to local, state, and federal laws, and company guidelines.
  • FINANCIAL: 10%

    • Maintains awareness of inventory/stocking conditions and reports discrepancies.
    • Reviews/inspects products for quality and freshness and takes appropriate action.
    • Prepares, packages, labels, and displays products for sale.
    • Utilizes production planning tools to accurately produce fresh products and follows discard/markdown processes.
    • Maintains proper temperatures per food safety guidelines and documents temperature logs.
  • COMPLIANCE/SAFETY: 10%

    • Maintains company standards for safety, proper food handling practices, sanitation, and productivity.
    • Adheres to regulatory compliance requirements for food safety, USDA & COOL, and DOA.
    • Executes product recalls and withdrawals promptly and ensures secure removal from customer access.
    • Enforces safety programs by complying with procedures and identifying unsafe conditions.
    • Ensures Hazardous Assessments are posted and personal protective equipment is available and used.
    • Reports and assists with remediation of safety hazards within the department.
    • Notifies management of accidents and reports safety risks, illegal activities, and adherence to wage and hour policies.

    • Preferred: High School / GED

    • Language(s) Preferred: Spanish
  • Knowledge, Skills & Abilities

    • Must be 18 years of age.
    • Authorization to work in the United States or the ability to obtain the same.
    • Successful completion of pre-employment drug testing and background check.
    • Strong customer service skills.
    • Exceptional interpersonal, motivational, and communication skills.
    • Operates bakery equipment according to company guidelines.
  • Environmental Factors

    • Physical Demands: Regularly stands, walks, utilizes manual dexterity, talks, sees, hears, smells, performs repetitive movements with both hands and/or both feet, reaches at waist level or overhead, carries, pushes, or lifts various loads up to the required weights, sits, balances, stoops, kneels, crouches, climbs up to 10 ft.
    • Working Conditions: Exposed to indoor, outdoor, cold, freezing, heated, and wet/humid working conditions.
    • Safety Risk Factors: Frequently twists back and/or neck, walks on a slippery or cluttered floor surface, works with hazardous equipment, exposed to sharp objects, exposed to loud noise, skin irritants, nuisance dust, fumes and sprays, hazardous cleaning solutions, and other toxins.
    • Overall Required Equipment: Cleaning supplies and equipment, general office equipment, register, pricing gun, scales, scanner, various material handling equipment, such as racks, carts, pallet jacks, shopping carts.
    • Department Specific Required Equipment: Powered cutting equipment, such as slicers, saws, grinders, various knives, various ovens, stoves, rotisserie, fryers, steamers, proofer, wrapping equipment.
    • Preferred Equipment: Balers/compactors, general hardware tools such as ladders, pliers, wire cutters, box cutters.
    • Personal Protective Equipment: Goggles, gloves, cutting gloves, fryer gloves, oven gloves, back braces, pulling requirement: 250 lbs., lifting requirement: 35 lbs.
