Backpack and Bike Technician

Clarke of Roselle, IL is seeking a seasonal Backpack/Bike Technician to support public health and sustainability efforts.

Responsibilities

• Apply a barrier treatment of insecticide to residential areas, key accounts, and special events using a backpack sprayer and/or an electric club car.
• Safely treat outdoor mosquito resting areas to reduce and slow mosquito re-infestation.
• Treat community catch basins by bike to target mosquito larvae populations using a company-issued bicycle and biological larvicide.
• Travel between sites using a backpack sprayer, club car, or bicycle, depending on the assignment.
• Follow work tickets and maps to guide treatment routes and customer locations.
• Document all activities to ensure customer contracts are fulfilled accurately and thoroughly.
• Inspect and maintain equipment, participate in training sessions, and assist with other fieldwork as needed.

Qualifications

• 18 years of age or older.
• High school diploma or equivalent with high school-level math skills.
• Effective communication in English (written and verbal).
• Valid Driver’s License with an excellent driving record.
• Ability to sit and drive a vehicle for extended periods, as well as walk extensively.
• Required to pass the Illinois Department of Agriculture General Standards Exam (training provided).
• Capable of using smartphones, GPS, and system applications.
• Capable of mixing, measuring, and pouring product formulations.
• Ability to bend, lift, and wear a 50-75lb backpack for extended periods.
• Ability to sit and ride a bicycle for extended periods (up to 15-20 miles per day) on roadways.
• Ability to bend and lift a bicycle.
• Must be able to drive a Club Car & Trailer and/or willing to be trained and pass the Clarke Safety & Training Program.

Pay

$19/hour with a $0.50 pay differential for multiple shifts.

Schedule

Up to 40+ hours per week, supporting the summer seasonal operation (generally May – October).
