Backhoe Operator

Job Duties

• Operate trucks, tractors, and various heavy equipment, such as backhoes, dump trucks, hydraulic excavators, and skid steers
• Open plots for interments and install liners; follow all procedures to ensure the correct plot is opened for interments
• Support cemetery operations in digging ditches and trenches, hoisting material, tools, equipment, and any related work with heavy equipment such as a backhoe, road grader or frontend loader
• Ensure interments are securely and carefully opened and closed
• Check burial orders to identify any special circumstances (i.e., irrigation line, sectional liner, casket-only interment, etc.)
• Install outer burial containers
• Maintain and protect Pinelawn’s assets by performing a walkaround visual inspection of all assigned equipment prior to and after use
• Inform the mechanic shop supervisor of equipment defects or the need for repair

Minimum Requirements

• Must possess a valid, unexpired Driver's License
• Must have at least 2+ years of experience operating a backhoe and/or excavator
• Must be able to comprehend and communicate effectively in English
• Must be legally authorized to work in the U.S.

Physical Requirements

• Must be able to work outdoors during all seasons and weather conditions, including heat, humidity, rain, snow, cold, etc.
• Must be able to climb ladders, stairs, ramps, etc.
• Must be able to walk considerable distances during the course of the workshift
• Must be able to lift, rise and lower objects from one level to another
• Must be able to pull, push, and carry large amounts of weight (50-100 lbs.) at any given time
