Backend Engineer (API, SQL)

About The Role

We are seeking a highly skilled Staff Backend Engineer with extensive experience in Go to join our Exposure Management team. In this role, you will provide technical leadership and strategic direction as we evolve our legacy Attack Surface Management (ASM) product into a next-generation Exposure Management platform. Your primary focus will be on building and extending large-scale, real-time streaming services that leverage our vast datasets, supporting the development of our Supply Chain Intelligence module and expanding into first-party Exposure Management. This position requires deep technical ownership, the ability to bridge legacy systems with modern architectures, and the judgment to balance ongoing customer commitments with long-term migration goals. As a technical lead, you will mentor team members, drive cross-team alignment, and foster a culture of engineering excellence, all while leveraging AI and LLM technologies to enhance our platform’s capabilities.

Qualifications

• 10+ years of professional experience in software engineering
• 5+ years of hands-on experience with Go programming language
• Deep understanding of distributed systems, including building horizontally scalable, high-availability, fault-tolerant architectures
• Experience with service-oriented architectures, microservices, and operational stacks such as gRPC/REST, GCP, and Kubernetes
• Strong knowledge of Internet protocols and concepts including WHOIS, DNS records, and Certificate SANs
• Able to reverse-engineer and troubleshoot complex legacy systems with minimal disruption
• Excellent communication skills with the ability to document architectures and drive technical solutions
• Curiosity and willingness to incorporate AI and LLM technologies responsibly into engineering workflows

Responsibilities

• Serve as the technical lead for the Exposure Management team, guiding architectural decisions and system design practices
• Own and execute the migration plan to transition legacy ASM functionalities onto the new Exposure Management platform
• Take end-to-end ownership of backend services, resolving complex legacy behaviors and ensuring seamless integration with new systems
• Drive technical alignment across shared systems to improve scalability, reliability, and engineering effectiveness
• Mentor team members, fostering a culture of technical excellence and continuous learning
• Leverage AI and LLM technologies to enhance development workflows, operational efficiency, and platform intelligence
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams to develop scalable, real-time streaming services leveraging large datasets
• Identify systemic gaps and drive solutions from concept through implementation, ensuring high-quality deliverables
