About The Role

We are seeking a Backend Staff Engineer to serve as a deep technical expert and architectural leader within our organization. This role is pivotal in solving highly complex engineering challenges, scaling distributed systems, and establishing backend engineering standards across the company.

  • Design and evolve scalable, secure, and resilient backend systems to support high-traffic, transaction-heavy workloads.
  • Architect high-availability APIs and distributed services ensuring optimal performance and reliability.
  • Define and implement best practices for system reliability, observability, and performance monitoring.
  • Write high-quality, production-grade backend code, leading refactoring efforts and performance improvements.
  • Identify system bottlenecks and develop scalable solutions to enhance system efficiency.
  • Provide technical guidance across teams, leading complex design discussions and evaluating trade-offs.
  • Improve backend development standards, documentation, and testing practices.
  • Implement strategies for load balancing, scaling, monitoring, and failure handling to ensure system robustness.
  • Enhance system instrumentation and observability to facilitate proactive issue detection and resolution.

Qualifications

  • Extensive experience as a Senior Backend Engineer, Principal Engineer, or Staff Engineer.
  • Proficiency in Golang and/or Python.
  • Deep expertise in distributed systems, API design (REST/GraphQL), and event-driven architectures.
  • Strong knowledge of data structures, algorithms, system design, and performance optimization.
  • Experience with AWS and cloud-native infrastructure.
  • Solid understanding of relational and non-relational databases.
  • Experience with caching mechanisms such as Redis and messaging systems.
  • Knowledge of security best practices in backend development.
  • Excellent communication skills in English; fluency in Spanish is a plus.
  • Experience in payments, fintech, or financial infrastructure is desirable.
  • Familiarity with transaction processing systems, fraud prevention, payment orchestration, or financial compliance systems is advantageous.
