Backend Developer

About the role

The Back-end Developer will be responsible for designing, developing, and operating distributed systems, microservices, and cloud-native applications using Java, Spring Boot, Kubernetes/EKS, Kafka, PostgreSQL, gRPC, REST, and AWS Cloud. They will also be involved in CI/CD, TDD, ArgoCD, SonarQube, FOSSA, and GitHub.

Responsibilities

• Experience designing, developing, and operating distributed systems, microservices, and cloud-native applications using Java, Spring Boot, Kubernetes/EKS, Kafka, PostgreSQL, gRPC, REST, and AWS Cloud
• Hands-on experience with CI/CD, TDD, ArgoCD, SonarQube, FOSSA, and GitHub, with a focus on secure, reliable software delivery
• Commitment to writing clean, maintainable, well-tested code and validating API performance, scalability, and reliability
• Implementing monitoring, alerting, observability, and performance management practices to maintain service health and meet service-level objectives
• Analyzing complex challenges, evaluating tradeoffs, and making sound decisions using available data
• Working in Agile teams and partnering with product managers, architects, and engineers to deliver production-ready solutions
• Contributing to architecture and design discussions, promoting engineering best practices, and mentoring junior engineers

Requirements

• 5+ years of progressive experience in cloud-based, software development
• Proven experience in designing, deploying, and supporting cloud-based solutions in production environments
• Strong understanding of API design and integration methods for seamless systems and data exchange
• Solid knowledge of cloud security principles and the ability to implement secure software solutions
• Demonstrated experience supporting mission-critical, always-on applications with high reliability and performance standards
• Hands-on expertise with AWS platforms and cloud-native tools such as MSK, Tyk, DataDog, EKS/Kubernetes, and Terraform, as well as deployment pipelines like Cloud Build, ArgoCD and Tekton
• Proficient in canary deployments and API-related technologies including JSON, REST, Swagger, and Postman
• Experience supporting critical applications in an "always on" environment

Skills

• Java - Design and build RESTful and gRPC based microservices with Spring Boot
• AWS - Deploy, scale, and operate the connected vehicle services using AWS platforms and cloud-native tools
• CI/CD - Automate build, test, static/dependency scanning, and deployment using Concourse and ArgoCD
• Security - Implement OAuth2/JWT-based authentication and authorization
