Back up Receiver

About the role

The Backup Receiver is responsible for all functions and paperwork receiving, operating machinery including baler, compactor, and forklift in a safe and proper manner. This role maximizes sales potential through effective and proper procedures for receiving products entering the store and maintaining cleanliness of the receiving area.

Responsibilities

• Operate machinery including baler, compactor, and forklift safely and properly
• Maximize sales potential through effective receiving procedures
• Maintain cleanliness of receiving area
• Report receiving discrepancies to Managers and Buyer(s) to rectify problems such as damages, shortages, or nonconformance to specifications
• Examine contents and compare with records, invoices, or orders to verify accuracy
• Attend all applicable trainings and comply with established procedures including Weights and Measures, health and sanitation, and safe work practices
• Communicate effectively with team members, Store leadership, and service vendors
• Execute other duties as needed

Requirements

• At least 18 years of age
• High school diploma or GED
• Ability to work a flexible schedule that changes as the business changes, including weekends and holidays
• Dependable and reliable
• Ability to work independently
• Excellent interpersonal skills and ability to communicate effectively
• Ability to perform simple math operations (addition, subtraction, multiplication, and division)
• Ability to multi-task
• Understanding of proper retail receiving
• Basic computer knowledge
• Ability to be certified in use of appropriate equipment needed for store or facility

Physical demands

• Move/transfer product weighing up to 60 lbs., from 5" to 56", for up to 30 feet for up to 30 hours without mechanical assistance
• Use pallet jack to horizontally transfer product weighing up to 1000 lbs., requiring force up to 50 lbs., for a distance up to 150 feet for up to 40 hours
• Vision required for reviewing invoices and monitoring incoming product
