Back up Receiver

About the role

As a Backup Receiver at Sprouts Farmers Market, you’ll play a vital role in ensuring smooth operations by handling all receiving functions and paperwork. This position involves operating machinery such as balers, compactors, and forklifts safely and efficiently, while maximizing sales potential through proper receiving procedures. You’ll also maintain the cleanliness of the receiving area, ensuring a well-organized and functional workspace.

Responsibilities

• Perform all receiving functions and manage associated paperwork accurately.
• Operate machinery, including balers, compactors, and forklifts, in a safe and proper manner.
• Maximize sales potential by adhering to effective and proper procedures for receiving products.
• Maintain cleanliness and organization of the receiving area.
• Report any receiving discrepancies (damages, shortages, or nonconformance to specifications) to Managers and Buyers for resolution.
• Examine contents of shipments and compare them with records, invoices, or orders to verify accuracy.
• Attend all applicable trainings and obtain certifications for equipment use as required.
• Comply with established procedures, including Weights and Measures, health and sanitation, and safe work practices.
• Work independently while maintaining excellent interpersonal skills and effective communication with team members, Store leadership, and service vendors.
• Perform physical tasks, including moving and transferring product weighing up to 60 lbs. from 5” to 56” for up to 30 feet, for up to 30 hours without mechanical assistance.
• Use a pallet jack to horizontally transfer product weighing up to 1000 lbs., requiring a force up to 50 lbs., for a distance up to 150 feet for up to 40 hours.
• Review invoices and monitor incoming product, requiring adequate vision.
• Perform simple math operations (addition, subtraction, multiplication, and division) and multi-task effectively.
• Demonstrate basic computer knowledge and understanding of proper retail receiving procedures.
• Execute other duties as needed.

Requirements

• At least 18 years of age.
• High school diploma or GED.
• Dependable and reliable with the ability to work a flexible schedule, including weekends and holidays, as business needs change.
• Ability to work independently while maintaining strong interpersonal and communication skills.
• Willingness to perform physically demanding tasks, including lifting and moving heavy products.
