Back-end Software Development Engineer

About the role

The Device Connectivity Platform Engineering team at FastTek Global is at the heart of our mission to redefine the future of connected mobility. We are seeking a highly motivated, technology-focused individual to join our team as a Software Engineer on the device connectivity layer. Your role will involve designing, developing, and maintaining mission-critical cloud platform components that power the connected vehicle ecosystem.

Responsibilities

• Design, develop, maintain, and support mission-critical cloud platform components that power the connected vehicle ecosystem.
• Build and enhance platform services and APIs that enable secure, reliable, and scalable connectivity for over 27 million connected vehicles worldwide.
• Contribute to platforms that process and route 50+ billion vehicle data points daily, ensuring high availability, performance, and resiliency.
• Own features and services throughout the software lifecycle, from design and implementation through deployment, monitoring, and operational support.
• Partner with engineers, architects, and product teams to deliver solutions that improve customer experiences and advance the connected mobility vision.

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience in a relevant field
• Master's degree desirable
• 5+ years of progressive experience in cloud-based, software development

Qualifications

• Proven experience in designing, deploying, and supporting cloud-based solutions in production environments
• Strong understanding of API design and integration methods for seamless systems and data exchange
• Solid knowledge of cloud security principles and the ability to implement secure software solutions
• Demonstrated experience supporting mission-critical, always-on applications with high reliability and performance standards
• Hands-on expertise with AWS platforms and cloud-native tools such as MSK, Tyk, DataDog, EKS/Kubernetes, and Terraform
• Experience with CI/CD, TDD, ArgoCD, SonarQube, FOSSA, and GitHub, with a focus on secure, reliable software delivery
• Commitment to writing clean, maintainable, well-tested code and validating API performance, scalability, and reliability
• Experience implementing monitoring, alerting, observability, and performance management practices to maintain service health and meet service-level objectives
• Ability to analyze complex challenges, evaluate tradeoffs, and make sound decisions using available data
• Experience working in Agile teams and partnering with product managers, architects, and engineers to deliver production-ready solutions
• Contribute to architecture and design discussions, promote engineering best practices, and mentor junior engineers
• Passion for leveraging technology and continuous improvement to deliver value for customers and the business

Skills

• Java to design and build RESTful and gRPC based microservices with Spring Boot
• Java applications packaged as Docker containers and deployed to Kubernetes/EKS clusters
• Real-time data processing with Java-based Kafka producers and consumers
• gRPC services for low-latency internal service-to-service communication alongside standard REST controllers
• Security built into these services using OAuth2/JWT-based authentication and authorization
• TDD practices and integration tests to ensure clean, maintainable, well-tested code
• Instrumentation of services with metrics and logging to support monitoring, alerting, and performance/load testing under high vehicle-connection volumes
