About the Role
Northrop Grumman Aeronautics System has an opening for a B-2 Aircraft Mechanic 1 or 2. The selected candidate will join our team of qualified, diverse individuals.
Responsibilities
- Complete initial qualification training and earn certifications to perform work on the B-2Bomber.
- Training/certifications will be assigned by the supervisor and may include aircraft structures, electrical, low observables, engine removal and others based on upcoming aircraft modifications.
- Performs a variety of operations such as remove and install aircraft engines and tailpipes, install electrical wiring and coaxial cables, and low observables.
- Interpret and use various test equipment and work from wiring diagrams, engineering drawings, job guides, and modification work instructions/plans.
- Troubleshoot and accurately diagnose malfunctions to properly identify and correct problems in minimum time.
- Read and interpret engineering drawings, job guides, and maintenance manuals.
- Measure parts with precision tools such as micrometers and calipers to verify dimensions and layout hole patterns per blueprint or engineering drawings.
- Perform and document maintenance, disassembly, rework, repair, replacement, re-assembly, or adjustment of various aircraft systems in accordance with technical specifications, engineering instructions, and modification work instructions.
- Use of appropriate PPE when working on the shop floor.
- The selected candidate must be willing to work various shifts depending on business needs, including, but not limited to: 1st shift 0630 – 1500, 2nd shift 1430 – 2300 and overtime when required.
Requirements
- Level 1: High School Diploma or GED and 0 years additional education and/or related experience.
- Level 2: High School Diploma or GED and 2 years additional education and/or related experience.
- Must be able to obtain and maintain a U.S. Department of Defense Secret security clearance (U.S. citizenship is a pre-requisite).
- Secret clearance (Interim) is required prior to starting.
- Must be able to obtain required Program Access within a reasonable amount of time a determined by the company to meet business needs.
- Must be willing to work a flexible work schedule that may include extended shifts, holidays, and/or weekends to meet schedule or mission requirements.
- Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings, job guides, and maintenance manuals.
- Must be able to perform moderate strenuous physical and repetitious work to include: bending, stooping, kneeling, lifting up to 50 pounds, working overhead, access small confined spaces and work in an enclosed environment.
- Must be able to pass a physical and respiratory evaluation and comply with respirator fitting requirements.
Qualifications
- Active DOD Secret Clearance with an investigation date/periodic review within the last 6 years.
- Hands-on experience with building, modifying, or maintaining aircraft, automotive, or other machines/equipment using common hand tools.
- Strong interpersonal communication skills with ability to work with others at all levels of the organization.
- Strong attention to detail and accuracy.
- Initiative, self-starter, adaptable, and high motivation for excellence.

Pay
Primary Level Salary Range: $38,600.00 - $64,000.00 Secondary Level Salary Range: $45,800.00 - $76,400.00 The above salary range represents a general guideline; however, Northrop Grumman considers a number of factors when determining base salary offers such as the scope and responsibilities of the position and the candidate's experience, education, skills and current market conditions. Depending on the position, employees may be eligible for overtime, shift differential, and a discretionary bonus in addition to base pay.
