AWS Workspace Desktop Engineer (VDI)

About the Role
Apex Fintech Solutions is seeking a Desktop Engineer with expertise in Virtual Desktop Infrastructure (VDI) to support end-user computing in a large-scale financial services environment. The ideal candidate will have experience with AWS-based VDI solutions and financial trading workflows.
Responsibilities
- Oversee and manage the VDI environment (Amazon WorkSpaces, AWS End User Computing)
- Ensure seamless access to developer tools, trading platforms, financial applications, enterprise applications, and market data systems
- Provide timely and accurate oversight for system updates, performance tuning, and incident management
- Manage and maintain observability and reliability solutions for 24x7 monitoring and insights to system and user health data
- Provide tools, knowledge, and access to IT Service and Support teams responsible for end-user experience and issue resolution
- Optimize VDI performance for latency-sensitive applications
Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in a technical field (or equivalent work experience) required
- 3+ years of experience with desktop infrastructure
- Strong VDI implementation knowledge, including Amazon WorkSpaces and AWS End User Computing solutions
- Familiarity with financial trading platform access and performance optimization (order management systems, market data feeds, trading terminals)
- Understanding of financial protocols (FIX, market data feeds, settlement systems)
- Experience supporting regulated environments (e.g., FINRA, SEC compliance, FEDRamp, NIST, SOC)
- Financial services background a plus

- Adaptable to changing priorities, tasks, and work schedules to meet customer service standards
- Demonstrated ability to quickly learn new technologies and systems and provide instruction on complex processes
- Understanding of low-latency requirements for trading applications
Preferred Qualifications
- AWS certifications (Solutions Architect, SysOps Administrator)
- Experience with financial trading platforms (Bloomberg Terminal, FactSet, Refinitiv Eikon)
- Familiarity with compliance and regulatory requirements in financial services
- Experience with DLP (Data Loss Prevention) and endpoint security in regulated environments
Work Environment
This job operates in a hybrid, office environment 3 days per week.
