AWS Serverless Engineer – Infrastructure as Code

About the role

A remote contract opportunity is available for an experienced AWS engineer with a strong background in serverless architecture and Infrastructure-as-Code. The work involves reviewing technical AWS tasks, checking whether the proposed solutions are correct, and identifying issues related to architecture, security, reliability, and implementation.

Responsibilities

• Review technical tasks involving AWS serverless services and Infrastructure-as-Code
• Check AWS architectures and integrations for technical accuracy
• Review solutions using services such as AWS Lambda, API Gateway, DynamoDB, S3, EventBridge, SNS, SQS, and Step Functions
• Review Infrastructure-as-Code built with AWS CDK, CloudFormation, and/or AWS SAM
• Identify problems related to architecture, permissions, reliability, error handling, and implementation
• Review IAM roles, policies, and permissions
• Evaluate event-driven workflows, retries, asynchronous processing, and failure handling
• Provide clear technical feedback explaining what works, what doesn't, and why

Requirements

• 3+ years of professional experience building AWS serverless applications
• Strong hands-on experience with AWS Lambda and other AWS serverless services
• Experience building production systems that use multiple AWS services together
• Experience with AWS CDK, CloudFormation, and/or AWS SAM
• Good understanding of event-driven architecture
• Experience working with IAM roles, policies, and permissions
• Experience designing or troubleshooting asynchronous workflows, retries, and failure handling
• Ability to review technical implementations and clearly explain technical issues
• Currently located in the United States

Nice to have

• AWS Solutions Architect or AWS Developer certification
• Experience with monitoring and observability for serverless systems
• Experience improving AWS workloads for reliability, performance, or cost
• Previous experience with code review, technical evaluation, or similar work

Location: Remote — United States

Pay: $70–$90 USD per hour
