AVP Revenue Accounting
About the role
The AVP, Revenue Accounting is a strategic and influential leader responsible for overseeing the technical and operational accounting functions related to revenue recognition, cost of revenue, and sales and marketing.
Responsibilities
- Own end-to-end accounting policies and processes for revenue, cost of revenue, and sales and marketing, including driving continuous process improvements and leading system implementations to enhance efficiency and scalability.
- Serve as the primary accounting advisor to Product, Sales, and Marketing by providing guidance on deal structuring and ensuring alignment with revenue recognition and commercial accounting requirements.
- Act as the subject matter expert on technical accounting for revenue and commercial areas, delivering clear guidance on complex transactions, policies, and processes to ensure compliance with applicable standards.
- Partner cross-functionally with Sales, Sales Operations, Legal, Customer Support, IT, Product Management, and Engineering to operationalize new product offerings, design revenue and commission structures, and assess accounting implications of business initiatives.
- Lead the financial close and reporting process for revenue, cost of revenue, and sales and marketing expenses, ensuring accuracy, timeliness, and transparency.
- Manage external audit relationships related to revenue, commissions, and technical accounting matters, ensuring smooth audits and compliance.
- Provide strong leadership and team development, fostering a high-performing, engaged team while balancing strategic thinking with hands-on execution.
- Demonstrate excellent organizational, communication, and stakeholder management skills.
Requirements
Education and Experience:
- 16+ years of accounting experience with a minimum of 6 years in a Big 4 accounting firm
- Bachelor’s degree in accounting, Finance, or a related field
- CPA or equivalent accounting certification is required; Big 4 experience is a plus.
- 5+ years in management/leadership role
- In-depth technical knowledge of ASC 606, ASC 340-40
- Proven ability to lead and develop high-performing teams
- Experience in designing or improving processes
- Ability to build positive relationships cross-functionally to effectively influence or make recommendations, implement processes/policies, etc
Qualifications
Required certifications/licenses:
- Certified Public Accountant (CPA)

This is a remote position. Salary Range $167,000.00 To $221,000.00 / year
