Responsibilities
- Design and maintain scalable database systems across cloud and on-premises environments, including Aurora PostgreSQL, Oracle, Sybase Server, Sybase replication server.
- Assist Applications, Developer and Integration support teams with deployment of new and upgraded software solutions within the Moody’s environment.
- Develop ongoing Information Security strategies and policies with Infosec, identity access management team and Internal audit team around data management and security and manage IT audit controls for Database and Informatica.
- Perform a proof of concept to demonstrate new version/patch of database or any new database component/tool/utilities is compatible with existing application and technologies or for migration purpose as per requirement.
- Provide technical leadership to implement a modern data ecosystem to support various functions within Moody’s.
- Recommend, test, and evaluate new database technologies and tools to upgrade skill sets and operate at scale.
- Install and test new versions of the database management system and maintain data standards.
- Manage and test back-up and recovery plans and establish and perform operational resiliency and disaster recovery protocol for staging and production live databases.
- Work closely with IT project managers, database programmers, middleware and system admins, and communicate regularly with technical, applications and operational staff to ensure database integrity and security.
- Participate in capacity planning, cost optimization for database environments.
- Review database changes for quality and stay current with emerging database technologies and cloud services to drive continuous improvement.
Requirements
- Requires a Bachelor’s degree or foreign equivalent in Computer Science, Engineering, or a closely related technical field plus at least five (5) years of progressively responsible experience as a Software Engineer, or a related IT position working with enterprise Linux environments.
- Must have experience with the following: working with enterprise Server Operating Systems such as AIX, RHEL 6/7/8 and CentOS; applying knowledge of Ansible as orchestration tool and python/bash as scripting language; working on AWS/Azure cloud, Monitoring standard, Patch management, Virtualization, Tuning and troubleshooting OS (CPU, Memory and I/O, Cloud deployments); applying enterprise deployment strategies for server OS; applying knowledge of OS lifecycle management and secure system configurations; managing cloud and onpremises database platforms including Aurora PostgreSQL, Oracle, SQL Server, MySQL, DocumentDB, Sybase ASE and Replication; database security, backup, and high availability best practices; automation, performance tuning, upgrades, and migrations; SOX audit controls automation and database documentation; DevOps; and monitoring, alerting, and disaster recovery planning.
Qualifications
For US-based roles only: the anticipated hiring base salary range for this position is $125,694 to $180,700/yr, depending on factors such as experience, education, level, skills, and location. This range is based on a full-time position. In addition to base salary, this role is eligible for incentive compensation.
