AVP, Financial Reporting

About the role

The AVP, Financial Reporting reports to the VP, Financial Reporting and is responsible for supporting the preparation of US GAAP financial reporting requirements across all business entities. This includes overseeing group consolidations, preparing quarterly and year-end financial statements, and ensuring compliance with regulatory standards.

Responsibilities

• Oversee and prepare group consolidations in support of quarter- and year-end close
• Support the US GAAP external and internal reporting process, including annual financial statements, MD&A, and presentations to various stakeholders
• Ensure compliance with financial reporting requirements for debt issuances
• Maintain and develop the internal control framework related to financial and statutory reporting
• Participate in process improvement initiatives and ad-hoc projects
• Collaborate with internal and external auditors on financial reporting matters

Requirements

• University degree in accounting or finance
• Internationally recognized accounting designation (CPA)
• Minimum of 7 years of relevant post-qualification experience within insurance
• Working knowledge of US GAAP and US Statutory/Bermuda Statutory (SFS) reporting standards
• Strategic and analytical problem-solving skills
• Detail-oriented and highly organized
• Strong communication and analytical skills
• Highly motivated and results-oriented

Qualifications

• Ability to work independently and handle shifting priorities
• Prior experience in financial reporting, particularly in insurance
• Knowledge of insurance industry regulations and standards

Benefits

Fortitude Re offers a competitive compensation package, including a base salary range of $130,000 - $145,000 USD, an annual bonus based on company and individual performance, and a comprehensive benefits package.
