About the role

The Associate Vice President (AVP) of Employee & Labor Relations is a senior HR leader responsible for providing strategic and operational leadership for Employee Relations and Labor Relations across Temple University Health System (TUHS) and its affiliated entities. The AVP serves as a senior advisor and subject matter expert on complex employee and labor relations matters, including investigations, workforce strategy, contract administration, collective bargaining, grievance and arbitration management, labor-management relations, and employment law compliance.

The AVP partners closely with executive leadership, Legal, Human Resources leadership, operational leaders, and Employee and Labor Relations professionals to ensure consistent, legally compliant, and business-focused outcomes across the organization.

Responsibilities

  • Provide strategic and operational leadership for Employee Relations and Labor Relations.
  • Serve as a senior advisor and subject matter expert on complex employee and labor relations matters, including investigations, workforce strategy, contract administration, collective bargaining, grievance and arbitration management, labor-management relations, and employment law compliance.
  • Partner with executive leadership, Legal, Human Resources leadership, operational leaders, and Employee and Labor Relations professionals.
  • Lead enterprise-wide workforce initiatives and advise senior leadership.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s Degree (Required).
  • Master’s Degree and/or Juris Doctor degree (Required).
  • 10+ years of progressive experience in Employee Relations, Labor Relations, or Human Resources leadership (Required).
  • Demonstrated expertise in workplace investigations, grievance administration, arbitration preparation, collective bargaining, and employment law compliance (Required).
  • Experience leading enterprise-wide workforce initiatives and advising senior leadership (Required).
  • Experience in a highly unionized healthcare environment (Preferred).

Skills

  • Senior Professional in Human Resources (SPHR) certification (Preferred).
  • SHRM-SCP certification (Preferred).
