AVP, Corporate Development
About the role
National Life Group’s Corporate Development team sources capital efficiently and supports the effective management of capital. Reporting to the VP, Corporate Development, you will support the identification, evaluation, selection, and execution of reinsurance and M&A opportunities. The role requires strong organizational skills, attention to detail, and the ability to build relationships across the organization. You will develop knowledge of NLG’s current and past life and annuity products.
Responsibilities
- Deal Sourcing and Evaluation: Build and maintain a pipeline of strategic partnerships and reinsurance opportunities through proactive outreach and inbound interest.
- Transaction Execution: Manage portions of the reinsurance/M&A lifecycle, including sourcing, due diligence, valuation, negotiation, and integration.
- Financial and Market Analysis: Develop sophisticated financial models and perform market analyses to support and validate business cases.
- Cross-Functional Interaction: Coordinate teams from finance, legal, operations, and other departments throughout the deal process.
- Stakeholder Management: Support the VP, Corporate Development in building relationships with external partners, investment bankers, advisors, and investors.
- Reporting and Presentation: Prepare and present detailed business cases, investment memos, and board-level reports to senior leadership.
- Strategic Planning: Identify industry trends and competitive landscapes to support long-term strategy.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in finance, business, economics, or a related field; FSA or FIA designation preferred.
- 10+ years of relevant experience in the insurance industry, with 5+ years in corporate development, reinsurance, investment banking, private equity, consulting, or a related transactional role.
- Significant knowledge of life insurance, annuities, retirement products, or other relevant insurance lines.
- Proficiency in financial modeling, valuation, and due diligence; actuarial experience is a plus.
- Working knowledge of U.S. Statutory, U.S. GAAP, U.S. Tax, Bermuda/E.B.S., and other solvency financial statements.

Pay
Base pay range: $196,875 – $288,750 USD. The final salary may vary based on prior experience, education, current business needs, and market factors.
