About the Role
The Corporate Development area focuses on sourcing capital efficiently and supporting effective capital management. Reporting to the VP of Corporate Development, this role supports the identification, evaluation, selection, and execution of reinsurance and M&A opportunities. The incumbent will develop knowledge of NLG’s life and annuity products and requires strong organizational skills, attention to detail, and the ability to build relationships across the organization.
Responsibilities
- Deal Sourcing and Evaluation: Assist in building and maintaining a pipeline of strategic partnerships and reinsurance opportunities through proactive efforts and inbound interest.
- Transaction Execution: Manage portions of the reinsurance/M&A lifecycle, including sourcing, due diligence, valuation, negotiation, and integration.
- Financial and Market Analysis: Develop sophisticated financial models and perform market analyses to support and validate business cases.
- Cross-Functional Interaction: Coordinate teams from finance, legal, operations, and other departments throughout the deal process.
- Stakeholder Management: Support the VP in building relationships with external partners, investment bankers, advisors, and investors.
- Reporting and Presentation: Assist in preparing and presenting detailed business cases, investment memos, and board-level reports to senior leadership.
- Strategic Planning: Support identification of industry trends and competitive landscapes to inform long-term strategy.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in finance, business, economics, or a related field (required). Preferred designations: FSA or FIA.
- 10+ years of relevant experience in the insurance industry, with 5+ years in corporate development, reinsurance, investment banking, private equity, consulting, or a related transactional role.
- Significant knowledge of life insurance, annuities, retirement products, or other relevant insurance lines.
- Proficiency in financial modeling, valuation, and due diligence; actuarial experience is a plus.
- Working knowledge of U.S. Statutory, U.S. GAAP, U.S. Tax, Bermuda/E.B.S., and other solvency financial statements.
- Strong leadership potential and desire to develop teams.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with a track record of building relationships across technical and non-technical audiences.
- Strong project management skills, including attention to detail, prioritization, and ability to work under pressure.

Pay
The base pay range for this position is $196,875 - $288,750 USD. The final salary may vary based on factors such as prior experience, education, market conditions, and individual performance. Additional compensation may include eligibility for discretionary annual incentive programs, medical benefits, 401(k), and paid time off (e.g., vacation, sick leave, parental leave).
