AVP, Back End Engineer

About the role

Barclays Services LLC is seeking AVP, Back End Engineers in Whippany, NJ. The role involves working with relational and NoSQL databases, designing, developing, and testing resilient and scalable solutions, and building microservices and APIs.

Responsibilities

• Work with Relational Databases including Postgres/Oracle, NoSql databases, or MongoDB/DynamoDB.
• Dive into server-side application logic and working on integration with front-end.
• Build micro services and APIs using REST/GraphQL.
• Use test-driven development to write top quality and well tested code by implementing automated tests.
• Use containerization technologies including Docker.
• Develop and deliver high-quality software solutions by using industry aligned programming languages, frameworks, and tools.
• Ensure that code is scalable, maintainable, and optimized for performance.
• Collaborate with product managers, designers, and other engineers to define software requirements, devise solution strategies, and ensure seamless integration and alignment with business objectives.

• Lead a team performing complex tasks, using well developed professional knowledge and skills to deliver on work that impacts the whole business function.
• Set objectives and coach employees in pursuit of those objectives, appraisal of performance relative to objectives and determination of reward outcomes.
• Identify new directions for assignments and/or projects, identifying a combination of cross functional methodologies or practices to meet required outcomes.
• Consult on complex issues; providing advice to People Leaders to support the resolution of escalated issues.
• Identify ways to mitigate risk and developing new policies/procedures in support of the control and governance agenda.
• Perform work that is closely related to that of other areas, which requires understanding of how areas coordinate and contribute to the achievement of the objectives of the organisation sub-function.
• Engage in complex analysis of data from multiple sources of information, internal and external sources such as procedures and practises (in other areas, teams, companies, etc).
• To solve problems creatively and effectively.

• Influence or convince stakeholders to achieve outcomes.

Requirements

The role requires a strong background in software development, with experience in Java, Spring Boot, Python, Django, C#, C++, .Net, Nodejs, Go, and familiarity with REST/GraphQL and containerization technologies like Docker.

Qualifications

• Minimum of 8 years of relevant experience in software development.
• Experience with relational and NoSQL databases, including Postgres/Oracle, MongoDB/DynamoDB.
• Experience with server-side application logic and integration with front-end.
• Experience with microservices and API development.
• Experience with containerization technologies including Docker.
• Experience with test-driven development and automated testing.
• Experience with REST/GraphQL.

Pay

Minimum Salary: $146,000.00 per year
Maximum Salary: $175,000.00 per year
