About the Role

This position supervises a team of professional-level employees and manages the financial record-keeping, reporting, and other accounting functions of the organization, including treasury operations. The role partners directly with asset management, portfolio management, and acquisition/disposition teams, and oversees experienced professionals responsible for preparing month-end closing reports and business quarterly financial analytics. The Senior Accounting Manager ensures accounting records and financial reports are accurate, complete, and conform to procedural standards.

Responsibilities

  • Enforces the preparation of timely and accurate US GAAP work papers and supporting schedules to satisfy all investment accounting requirements for internal and external audits.
  • Coordinates day-to-day general accounting activities within the department to ensure smooth functioning.
  • Oversees the reconciliation of balance sheets, profit & loss statements, bank accounts, and other financial records to confirm accurate recording.
  • Reviews accounting reports such as financial statements, cash flow reports, and budget reports for internal and external audiences.
  • Works closely with internal and external auditors and other financial professionals to align practices with organizational goals.
  • Oversees strategic initiatives, including system upgrades, process improvements, implementation of new products, and asset management initiatives.
  • Maintains investment accounting policies, procedures, and control processes to ensure clarity and understanding among team members.
  • Monitors team performance through regular feedback and formal performance reviews to ensure exceptional service delivery, engagement, motivation, and development.

Requirements

  • University degree (preferred).
  • 5+ years of controls, audit, accounting, or finance experience (required); 7+ years (preferred).
  • Sedentary work as physical requirement.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience within the financial services industry, including familiarity with loan accounting standards and procedures.
  • Experience with Oracle and/or NetSuite accounting systems.
  • Experienced data analyst with the ability to apply data and analytics (D&A) tools (e.g., Alteryx, Python, Power BI, Tableau, or similar) to extract, process, and interpret complex accounting and financial data sets.

Pay

Base Pay Range: $119,000/yr - $150,000/yr. Actual base salary may vary based on relevant experience, time in role, base salary of internal peers, prior performance, business sector, and geographic location. The competitive compensation package may also include participation in an incentive program linked to performance.
