Avionics Maintenance Technician - 2nd Shift - 1072

Schedule

Our 2nd shift schedule is Monday–Thursday, 3 pm–1 am. The shift incentive includes a 10%–15% premium, paid lunch, and 3-day weekends. Eligibility to transfer to 1st shift is available after 3 years.

Responsibilities

• Troubleshoot and repair problems to the component level on avionics units (e.g., Navs, Coms, Pulse, Radar, Audio and Autopilot Systems) and aircraft systems.
• Perform general avionics support items on aircraft, including removal and installation of panels and components and repair work.
• Conduct troubleshooting and evaluation of systems on the aircraft when designated.
• Inspect and evaluate aircraft and components when designated.
• Verify aircraft movement and performance of systems.
• Maintain and repair shop facility, equipment, and tooling to support operations.
• Work with customers in project management, pricing, and customer support roles.
• Work independently on projects.
• Perform any other job-related duties as assigned by supervisor or management.

Requirements

• A High School diploma or equivalent.
• Electronics or Avionics factory training is preferred.
• A valid driver’s license approved for airline travel and/or a valid passport is ideal, but not mandatory.

Experience Levels

• Tech I (0–2 years): Limited to no knowledge of the position; requires close supervision and constant check-ins on work performance.
• Tech II (2–4 years): Considerable knowledge of the job with a broad understanding of detailed aspects; requires general supervision and instructions.
• Tech III (4–6 years): Full knowledge of the job with complete understanding of detailed aspects; limited supervision required and can act as a trainer or mentor.
• Master Technician (6+ years): Exclusive knowledge in all areas of the job; subject-matter expert with comprehensive knowledge and ability to train others.

We’re looking for team players who are self-motivated and able to perform in a fast-paced environment with specific deadlines and time constraints. Dealing with customers and the capacity to perform work with minimal supervision will also be required.

Your Sense of Responsibility

• Attend work every day as scheduled, including overtime and weekend assignments.
• Notify supervisor in advance of shift starting if unable to work.
• Must have reliable transportation to get to work each day.
• Perform all work in accordance with Federal Aviation Administration guidelines.
• Follow all company and safety rules during performance of duties.
• Maintain customer-oriented work habits.

Physical Requirements

• Lifts 50 lbs.
• Routine walking, bending, squatting, or sitting.
• Routine or repetitive physical motion with arms and hands.
• Standing for long periods of time.
• Climb ladders and stairs; work in small restricted areas.

Mental Requirements

• Understanding and implementation of regulations and guidelines.
• Troubleshoot, evaluate, and perform functional tests for various avionics and instrument systems.
• Work with others in a professional manner.

Supervision

Work under supervision of assigned Avionics Team Leader.

Working Conditions

Work is performed in a hangar environment subject to extreme temperature variations from very cold to very hot. Work outside during aircraft runs will occur. Varied positions in and around the aircraft.

• Personal hand tools supplied by the mechanic.
• Pneumatic, hydraulic, and electrical equipment.
• Jacks, stands, lifts, and other support devices.
• Tugs, power carts, and other engine-powered equipment.
• Crimpers, soldering iron, and heat guns.
• Personal computer and work order prints.
