Aviation Safety Analyst

About the role

Wing is looking for an Aviation Safety Analyst to join our Aviation Safety team. This role is hybrid based in Palo Alto, California.

Responsibilities

• Analyze safety data sets to identify trends and emerging risks, including building and maintaining safety performance charts and dashboards to visualize the effectiveness of our operational controls
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams to conduct risk assessments on new technologies, operational concepts, and proposed flight environments to identify hazards and develop robust controls
• Conduct thorough safety investigations into reports or events, utilizing root-cause analysis to ensure we learn from every event and implement effective corrective actions
• Perform safety reviews on proposed organizational or operational changes to ensure that existing safety levels are maintained and no new hazards are introduced
• Partner daily with Engineering, Flight Operations, and Flight Test teams to ensure safety data is accurate and that risk assessments reflect the reality of our operations
• Support safety promotion activities by assisting with safety training sessions and crafting communications to share safety-critical information and lessons learned

Requirements

• 4+ years of experience in a regulated safety environment, preferably in aviation or autonomous systems
• Demonstrated experience in safety data analysis, both quantitative and qualitative, with the ability to "tell the story" behind the numbers
• A thorough understanding of all SMS components and how they interact to create a proactive safety environment
• Proven ability to facilitate risk assessments and document hazards and mitigations clearly
• Familiarity with safety investigation techniques and the ability to drive toward systemic root causes
• Excellent documentation skills and the ability to work effectively with technical and operational stakeholders to keep safety at the forefront of the business

• The flexibility to adapt to evolving priorities and manage multiple tasks effectively

Pay

The US base salary range for this full-time position is $145,000 USD - $154,000 USD. Wing’s salary ranges are determined by role, level, and location.
