Aviation Maintenance Controller, Aircraft

About the Role

TransMedics has initiated a national program for organ retrieval and organ management with the goal of increasing utilization of donor organs for transplant using the Organ Care System (OCS) technology platform in conjunction with our best-in-class Logistics Command Center. The Aircraft Maintenance Controller will coordinate scheduled and unscheduled maintenance on the Aviation Fleet at base and remote locations to ensure timely return to service. This role coordinates with the internal Charter team and outside vendors to ensure flight safety, compliance with all applicable laws, regulations, and company policies, and minimize operational interruptions.

Responsibilities

• Coordinates and manages maintenance operational issues; AOGs (aircraft on ground), mechanical interruptions, in-flight emergencies, scheduled and unscheduled maintenance with Pilots, Charter team, and DOM/Assistant DOM.
• Orders and manages parts required for scheduled and unscheduled maintenance; coordinates with Parts team for core returns.
• Evaluates reported aircraft discrepancies and develops appropriate repair or recovery plans.
• Communicates return-to-service estimates for AOG aircraft with the Charter team.
• Monitors current aircraft hours and cycles to ensure time-sensitive inspections and deferred items (MEL/NEF/CDL) expiration times are scheduled and not exceeded.
• Evaluates individual aircraft schedules for opportunities to schedule service checks and cleanings.
• Maintains and manages the aircraft due list and discrepancies/deferrals in the web-based flight schedule.
• Coordinates the process for aircraft ferry flights to a maintenance provider when applicable.
• Maintains Summit maintenance web-based pass down/turnover.
• Audits all RTS (return to service) paperwork and packages for aircraft being returned to service; files digital copies and ensures original paperwork is mailed to home base.
• Ensures all maintenance activities are conducted with current FAA regulations and OEM-approved data; provides outside vendors with applicable data or references as needed.
• Performs other TransMedics tasks and duties as assigned or required.

Qualifications

• Minimum of 7 years of experience in at least one of the related fields or a combination of both: Business Jet Aviation Maintenance or Military Aviation Maintenance.
• Valid and violation-free Airframe and Powerplant certificate.
• Maintain a valid driver’s license.
• Previous Part 135 experience preferred (not required).

Pay

The expected base salary range for this role is $79,400 – $113,000. Actual salary will depend on factors such as candidate experience, qualifications, skills, and specific work location. This role may also be eligible for bonuses, equity, and a comprehensive benefits package.
