About the role

Reporting to the Director of Estimating, the AV Solutions Engineer is responsible for evaluating client/project needs by providing initial technology solutions to achieve a design concept or goal and determining how the Technology team can support those needs leveraging software, hardware, or infrastructure. This role bridges communication between the Technology team, the Creative Studio, and Sales & Estimating to ensure alignment in developing and implementing technical solutions for clients.

Responsibilities

  • Work closely with the Estimating, Sales, Creative, and Technology teams to create estimate workbooks for jobs involving software development, tech hardware, system engineering, installation, and service.
  • Identify opportunities for process and pricing improvements, both on a project and department level.
  • Assist with and participate in brainstorming sessions to develop potential solutions for client needs.
  • Determine feasibility of interactive technology concepts and architect potential system design solutions.
  • Work closely with Interactive Systems Engineers to hand off approved scope with supporting documentation of initial solutions, high-level line drawings, estimate workbook, and any other relevant context for final engineering.
  • Source and document third-party hardware and software solutions by providing tech solutions to achieve the design concept or goal.
  • Collaborate with the Solutions Engineer team to stay informed and up to date about new technologies and competitor companies to continuously educate and improve on current solutions.
  • Communicate and consult with clients and internal stakeholders to develop appropriate solutions.
  • Interface with clients on the front end of opportunities, seeking to manage customer satisfaction and set proper expectations for the end-product; serve as the technical expert by providing input to the Tech A/V and Engineering team.
  • Work closely with Sales Team and Creative Team members to strategize solutions for client needs and help with the client pitch.
  • Maintain extensive knowledge of tech hardware and systems, including client meetings and site visits to assess for estimating and client solutions.
  • Seek regular feedback, adjustments, and apply problem-solving to properly design and coordinate with the Tech A/V team to implement potential solutions.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, Software Engineering, or a related field preferred.
  • CTS Certification is a plus along with manufacturer-level certifications (i.e., Crestron, QSC, Biamp, etc.) or entry-level industry certification such as AVIXA Technologist.
  • Expert level with using Microsoft Excel and Google Sheets required.
  • 3-5 years of relevant work experience required, including creating estimates for technology projects with hardware and software needs.
  • Experience with commercial A/V or high-end residential A/V is a plus, including LCD video walls and direct view LED walls.

  • Employee must be able to talk and hear.

  • While performing the duties of this job, the employee may be exposed to wet and/or humid conditions, moving mechanical parts, fumes or airborne particles, and outside weather conditions.
