About the Role
Osbee is looking for experienced AV technicians, low-voltage technicians, or hands-on trades professionals to strengthen our field team. Backgrounds in carpentry and fabrication, electrical work, network/IT hardware, automotive, or theater and stage are all directly applicable — and can be adapted to your advantage in the AV and residential technology integration industry. No two days look the same, and every project brings something new to learn.
Responsibilities
- Perform rough-in wiring and rack fabrication, and mount TVs, speakers, projectors, keypads, cameras, and motorized shades
- Pull, label, and dress cable; terminate and test structured cabling (RJ45, keystone, patch panels, speaker wiring)
- Install and configure audio, video, distributed AV/AV-over-IP, networking, Wi-Fi, lighting control, motorized shades, surveillance, access control, intercom, and HVAC integration
- Configure and troubleshoot IP-connected devices — managed switches, VLANs, DHCP, static IPs, PoE, and wireless infrastructure
- Enter data and configure home control/automation systems during installation and commissioning
- Receive, label, rack, cable, and test equipment at our facility before it ships to the jobsite
- Test, commission, and troubleshoot completed systems, and document quality-control results
- Read architectural plans, wiring diagrams, rack elevations, and system schematics, and flag field conditions that conflict with the design
- Run service calls and diagnose issues on existing installations
- Coordinate daily with programmers, engineers, project managers, and other trades on site
- Maintain accurate as-built notes, wire labeling, and job documentation
- Keep job sites clean and safe while protecting custom millwork, stone, artwork, and finished interiors
- Manage tools, truck stock, and job materials; complete manufacturer and in-house training
Requirements
- Hands-on experience installing residential home control, AV, or entertainment systems — or transferable experience from electrical, construction, carpentry/fabrication, automotive, theater/stage, or IT hardware work
- Familiarity with any of: Crestron, Savant, Lutron HomeWorks, Ketra, Ruckus, Netgear, SonicWall, AV-over-IP, motorized shades, surveillance, or access control — you don't need to know every system, just troubleshoot logically and pick up new ones quickly
- Working knowledge of networking fundamentals, or strong aptitude to learn
- A genuine interest in integration technology and new systems
- System programming/configuration experience is a plus, not required
- Professionalism and discretion in clients' homes, with pride in clean, precise workmanship
- Meticulous attention to detail, including precise measuring and drilling
- Strong communication skills with clients, contractors, architects, designers, and internal teams
- Comfortable with hand/power tools and working from ladders and lifts
- High school diploma or equivalent; Crestron, Lutron, or Savant certifications a plus — Osbee sponsors certification training
- Valid U.S. driver's license; able to lift up to 50 lbs
Benefits
- $75,000–$125,000/year, full-time salaried
- Health insurance, with optional dental and vision
- Life insurance and employee assistance program
- Flexible spending account
- 401(k) with up to 4% company match
- 16 days PTO plus 10 paid holidays
- Company-sponsored certification training and professional development
- Tools, company vehicle, laptop, and cellphone provided
- Employee discount
