Automotive Technology Division Lead
Location: Southfield, Michigan, US or remote in Eastern time zone US preferred or remote UK
About the role
The Automotive Technology Research and Product division lead oversees global, multidisciplinary research teams across a broad array of automotive domains, including connected car, electronics, chassis, ADAS, infotainment, and interior systems. This role bridges the gap between deep technical research and consumer-centric product planning, supporting existing products and conceiving and developing new ones with full accountability for global revenue and product strategy.
Responsibilities
- Define the global product roadmap for this part of the portfolio to open up new revenue streams and increase client retention.
- Manage and mentor domain-specific research teams (e.g., Connected Car, Semiconductor and Electronics, Chassis, Interior, Software Defined vehicle, etc).
- Lead voice of the customer insight gathering and market research initiatives to identify unmet needs and translate them into actionable product features.
- Own the P&L of this product portfolio; help shape global sales strategy and market penetration.
- Partner with engineering, other product teams, research teams, marketing and sales to ensure seamless product delivery and market traction.
Requirements
- 12+ years in automotive technology and/or automotive planning either at an OEM, supplier or at a market research or consulting company. A background in OEM feature planning is a plus.
- Deep understanding of automotive ecosystem, ok if primarily focused on one technology area, though understanding of interconnection across different systems and subsystems is critical.
- Proven ability to synthesize insights into high-impact thought leadership.
- Demonstrated success in managing global, cross-functional teams and holding P&L/revenue responsibility.
- Proven ability to create and deliver clear, structured narratives for senior leadership and stakeholders, whether it is on industry subject matter or product development investment opportunities.
- Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Engineering, Product Management, or related field preferred.
- Approximately 15 to 35% travel.
Pay
Anticipated base salary range for this position is $149,853 to $182,678. Final base salary will be based on the individual’s geographical location as well as experience and qualifications for the role. In addition to base compensation, this role is eligible for an annual incentive plan.
