Temporary position with potential for hire in Ann Arbor, MI.
Responsibilities
- Prepare vehicles for testing (basic maintenance, parts replacement, fuel draining, etc.)
- Serve as an Emissions and Fuel Economy test driver (operate vehicles on chassis dynamometer, closely following prescribed testing modes)
- Prepare and conduct official and in-house tailpipe and evaporative emissions testing for certification, durability, and in-use verification programs at Ann Arbor and Denver locations
- Troubleshoot emissions/fuel economy issues under the direction of senior staff
- Ensure all test equipment is calibrated and functioning properly; verify that test vehicles are well prepared for accurate emissions and fuel economy testing in compliance with federal test procedures
- Flexibility to work overtime as needed to complete testing
Requirements
- 1 or more years of hands-on experience in the automobile industry
- Proficiency with MS Word, Excel, and PowerPoint
- Experience with data loggers
- Extensive automobile-related hands-on experience
- Ability to lift 60 lbs
- Proficient in driving manual transmission vehicles

- Catalytic converter and exhaust system modification/replacement
- Timing checks
- OBD diagnostics
- Fuel system inspection, troubleshooting, and repairs
- Brake inspection, service, and repair
- Tire mounting/balancing
- Vehicle electrical system diagnostics and repair
- Soldering
- Welding (desirable)
- Use of general automotive tools (e.g., saws, air tools, etc.)
