About the role

As a Field Service Technician, you’ll be part of our Stud Welding team working as a remote employee supporting the Indiana and Illinois area.

Responsibilities

  • Make field service calls both local and out of state at times with little advance notice and possibility for extended periods of time.
  • Provide integration support, including teaching, adjustment, calibration, and diagnosing issues related to the system.
  • Commission systems at customer locations, which may involve extensive walking or standing for long periods.
  • Attend all customer-requested kick-off meetings.
  • Complete final buy-off of installations, documenting any open issues or exceptions. This may require standing on a robot or taking measurements close to the floor.
  • Ensure all equipment at assigned customer plants operates at maximum target reliability levels (99.998%) or provide written documentation to the Technical Field Manager for exceptions.
  • Diagnose and repair equipment to the component level using test equipment (e.g., oscilloscope, multi-meter, chart recorder).
  • Record service reports and update plant inventory after visitations using SalesForce.com (SFDC FSL).
  • Maintain a plant information database, including equipment performance and customer satisfaction surveys for all related product lines (SFDC FSL).
  • Log all open issues and follow them through to completion.
  • Assist customers in identifying and ordering spare parts and capital equipment.
  • File accurate expense reports in a timely manner.

Requirements

  • 2+ years of experience in electrical/electronic equipment troubleshooting.
  • Typically travel 30% to customer sites; up to 50% travel for special projects.
  • Experience with robot/PLC interfacing, including basic ladder logic.
  • Basic understanding of SWS and SPR systems preferred.
  • Basic understanding of safety circuits and commissioning systems.
  • Ability to program systems and troubleshoot at an intermediate level.
  • Knowledge of mechanical components (pneumatics, weld heads, feeders, spindles).
  • Electronic technology degree or equivalent; Associate’s or Bachelor’s degree desirable.

Pay

The salary range for this position is $54,700 - $93,500 annually, depending on job level, geographic location, knowledge, skills, qualifications, and experience. The total target cash compensation range is $57,000 - $92,000, inclusive of base salary and target variable cash compensation (e.g., sales incentives or commission). Eligible for annual merit increases.
