Automotive Manufacturing Field Service Technician
About the role
As a Field Service Technician on our Stud Welding team, you’ll work remotely supporting the Indiana and Illinois area. This role involves making field service calls—both local and out-of-state—with little advance notice and the possibility of extended travel. You’ll provide integration support, including teaching, adjustment, calibration, and diagnosing system issues, as well as commissioning systems at customer locations. This may require extensive walking, standing for long periods, or working in various sections of a plant. You’ll attend customer kick-off meetings, complete final buy-off of installations, and document any open issues or exceptions. Ensuring equipment operates at maximum reliability (99.998%) is a key responsibility, along with diagnosing and repairing equipment to the component level using tools like oscilloscopes and multimeters. You’ll also maintain plant information databases, log open issues, assist customers with spare parts and capital equipment orders, and file accurate expense reports.
