About the role
As a Field Service Technician on our Stud Welding team, you’ll work remotely supporting customers in the Indiana and Illinois area. This role involves frequent travel—up to 50% for special projects—with little advance notice and potential for extended periods away from home.
Responsibilities
- Perform field service calls, both locally and out-of-state, including integration support, teaching, adjustment, calibration, and diagnosing system issues.
- Commission systems at customer locations, which may require extensive walking or standing for long periods.
- Attend all customer kick-off meetings and complete final buy-off of installations, documenting open issues or exceptions.
- Ensure equipment operates at maximum target reliability (99.998%) or provide written documentation for exceptions.
- Diagnose and repair equipment to the component level using tools like oscilloscopes, multimeters, and chart recorders.
- Maintain service reports, update plant inventory, and log all open issues through SalesForce.com (SFDC FSL).
- Assist customers in identifying and ordering spare parts and capital equipment.
- File accurate expense reports in a timely manner.
Requirements
- 2+ years of experience in electrical/electronic equipment troubleshooting.
- Experience with robot/PLC interfacing, including basic ladder logic.
- Basic understanding of SWS and SPR systems, safety circuits, and commissioning systems.
- Ability to program systems and troubleshoot at an intermediate level.
- Knowledge of mechanical components (pneumatics, weld heads, feeders, spindles).
- Electronic technology degree or equivalent; Associate’s or Bachelor’s degree desirable.
- Typically 30% travel to customer sites; up to 50% for special projects.

Pay
The salary range for this position is $54,700–$93,500 annually, with total target cash compensation ranging from $57,000–$92,000 (including base salary and variable cash incentives). Actual pay may vary based on job level, location, experience, and compliance with local wage requirements. Eligible for annual merit increases.
