About the role

Lilly is entering an exciting period of growth and is investing over $1 billion to create a new state-of-the-art manufacturing site in Concord, North Carolina. The brand-new facility will utilize the latest technology to increase the company's manufacturing capacity in parenteral (injectable) medications, device assembly, and packaging operations. This is a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity to help build and operate a new site featuring advanced, highly integrated, and automated manufacturing systems with a focus on minimizing environmental impact.

Responsibilities

  • Assure automated equipment performance and provide first-line support to production processes.
  • Support area engineering initiatives, process improvements, and project implementation.
  • Develop expertise in production processes, commissioning, qualification, validation requirements, and equipment-specific code and/or control system technologies.
  • Ensure equipment is maintained in a qualified state, operated safely, and that maintenance is properly performed on the systems (performing maintenance activities is not in the scope of this position).
  • Key deliverables:
    • Assure operational and maintenance procedures reflect safety concerns.
    • Perform activities in accordance with cGMPs and applicable procedures.
    • Identify opportunities to improve quality using equipment performance data.
    • Communicate effectively with all levels to ensure projects and repairs are well planned and coordinated.
    • Participate in and sometimes lead the development of equipment design, procedures, engineering studies, and maintenance practices.
    • Seek opportunities to improve equipment operational effectiveness and reliability.
    • Provide technical support to engineering in:
      • Investigating and resolving issues causing production delays.
      • Transferring knowledge of equipment capabilities and operational techniques.
      • Implementing tools for operations and engineering to learn and work more proficiently.
    • Create maintenance action plans to support maintenance and troubleshooting activities.
    • Participate in periodic reviews of equipment state.
    • Plan and execute small projects for process or equipment improvements or changes.
  • Maintain a safe work environment and support all Health, Safety, and Environment (HSE) corporate and site goals.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or GED.
  • Minimum 2 years of automation experience.
  • Authorized to work in the United States on a full-time basis; Lilly will not sponsor work authorization or visas for this role.
  • Must satisfy background check and drug screening requirements.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Demonstrated ability to work safely in a participative environment.
  • Experience in a GMP manufacturing environment.
  • Experience in instrumentation, PLC, and/or HMI programming.
  • Studio 5000 and FactoryTalk View SE programming experience.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Word and Excel; ability to type and write technical documents.
  • Strong organizational skills, attention to detail, and ability to adapt to rapidly changing priorities.
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills with a customer service attitude.
  • Previous experience with highly automated equipment.
  • Experience with B&R platform (a plus).
  • Knowledge of parenteral/packaging equipment and manufacturing operations.
  • Experience with Maximo or similar computerized maintenance management system.

Pay

The anticipated wage for this position is $21.27 - $41.25 per hour. Full-time equivalent employees are also eligible for a company bonus (depending on company and individual performance).
