About the role

Join STEMCO as an Automation Technician and help drive manufacturing excellence through the maintenance, troubleshooting, and continuous improvement of advanced automation systems and production equipment. In this role, you will play a critical part in supporting the reliability and performance of manufacturing operations by maintaining automated assembly equipment, PLC-controlled systems, and plant production equipment. You will work alongside operations and maintenance teams to minimize downtime, improve equipment performance, and support a safe and efficient manufacturing environment.

Responsibilities

  • Perform preventive, predictive, and corrective maintenance on automated assembly equipment and production machinery.
  • Troubleshoot and repair PLC-controlled systems, electrical controls, hydraulic systems, and pneumatic systems.
  • Diagnose and resolve equipment issues to minimize production downtime and maximize efficiency.
  • Program, troubleshoot, and support Allen Bradley PLC systems and ladder logic applications.
  • Maintain and repair production equipment including metal stamping presses, rubber molding machines, packaging equipment, and automated work cells.
  • Support robotic and automated equipment used throughout manufacturing operations.
  • Read and interpret electrical schematics, blueprints, technical manuals, and equipment documentation.
  • Perform basic fabrication and mechanical repairs as needed.
  • Assist with machinery installation, equipment upgrades, and plant improvement projects.
  • Identify and implement continuous improvement opportunities to increase equipment reliability and operational performance.
  • Maintain accurate maintenance records and documentation.
  • Partner with production teams to support operational goals and equipment availability.

Qualifications

  • High school diploma or GED required.
  • Minimum of five (5) years of experience troubleshooting and programming PLC-controlled manufacturing equipment.
  • Demonstrated experience with Allen Bradley PLCs and ladder logic programming.
  • Strong knowledge of electrical systems, motor controls, hydraulics, pneumatics, mechanical systems, and I/O-Link devices.
  • Ability to read and interpret electrical schematics, blueprints, repair manuals, and technical documentation.
  • Experience performing preventive and predictive maintenance in an industrial manufacturing environment.
  • Ability to safely work around electrical systems up to 480 volts.
  • Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced manufacturing environment.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Associate degree or technical certification in Industrial Maintenance, Mechatronics, Automation Technology, Electrical Technology, or a related field.
  • Experience working with robotic systems and automation equipment.
  • Experience supporting automated assembly equipment.
  • Welding or fabrication experience.
  • Experience with continuous improvement initiatives and equipment upgrades.

What You’ll Bring

Work Environment & Physical Requirements

  • Moderate physical demands, including frequent handling of tools, equipment, parts, and materials.
  • Continuous mental and visual concentration required to perform electrical, electronic, mechanical, building, and equipment maintenance duties.
  • Frequent exposure to machinery, moving equipment, electrical systems, noise, dirt, oil, and industrial environments.
  • Exposure to water, oils, chemicals, and cleaning agents.
  • Ability to safely operate or work around forklifts and lifting equipment.
  • Ability to work overhead, in confined spaces, and around energized equipment while maintaining established safety protocols.
