About the role

The company provides products and value‑added solutions within Fluid Power, Fluid Process, Fluid Conveyance, Automation, General Industrial Components, and Industrial Repair. The Automation Technical Specialist will penetrate the market within the Industrial Business Unit, achieve established sales and gross‑margin goals, and support specific company initiatives within the Automation product lines. The role also provides technical assistance to field Account Managers.

Responsibilities

Strong understanding of automation controls & software
Assess customer needs
Specify products
Prepare customer proposals, deliver presentations, and generate quotations
Determine costs
Service customers via telephone
Service customers on site
Develop technical drawings
PLC/Software (Codesys) experience
I/O Link experience
Manage products and supplier relationships
Evaluate industry trends and new technology

Qualifications

BS in Mechanical, Industrial, or Electrical Engineering or equivalent (preferred)
2+ years experience as a Field Sales Engineer for automation systems
Previous experience working for a distributor (preferred)
Specific knowledge and experience with design, manufacture, and integration of automated manufacturing, material handling, assembly, and test equipment
Understanding of mechanical and electrical design concepts and motion control
Ability to develop creative, cost‑effective solutions to meet customer needs

Skills

Proficient in Microsoft Word and Excel
Proficient in AutoCAD
PLC programming and troubleshooting
Knowledge of Codesys and I/O Link
