About the Role
Develop System sales opportunities and propose optimal material-handling solutions that support Carolina Handling, LLC’s sales channels. The role involves estimating equipment and implementation services, creating proposals, and presenting solutions to meet customer expectations.
Responsibilities
- Travel to project kick-off meetings to collect and analyze field data (product specs, operational sequences, facility measurements, interferences, project restrictions).
- Develop initial design concepts using AutoCAD and supplier software; secure competitive estimates for equipment and services.
- Propose alternative design solutions that align with customer specifications and Carolina Handling, LLC requirements.
- Generate accurate budgetary and firm proposals at target profit margins, including:
- Complete equipment specifications
- System overview
- Material specifications and cut sheets
- PDF layouts with 3D views to clarify functionality and competitive advantages
- Communicate solution concepts and estimates to Engineers, Order Processors, and Project Managers for implementation.
- Maintain quotation logs by product type and monetary value.
- Foster positive relationships with internal teams and customers to support company goals and satisfaction.
- Support Sales reps in designing and presenting storage/retrieval solutions.
- Build liaison relationships with material and labor vendors.
- Perform administrative duties to meet organizational objectives.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering (Mechanical, Electrical, Industrial, or related field).
- 4+ years of experience in material handling application development, automation, and sales.
- Proficiency in AutoCAD and supplier drawing software.
- Strong organizational skills; ability to prioritize and manage competing demands efficiently.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Ability to thrive in a multitasking, fast-paced environment.
- Travel throughout the Southeast (GA, AL, SC, NC); company car provided.
Working Conditions
- Fast-paced office environment with high information flow and frequent customer interaction.
- Exposure to sensitive/confidential information; must maintain professionalism amid changing priorities.
- Occasional exposure to machine shop environments and equipment hazards.
- May require day trips or occasional overnight travel.
Physical Requirements
- Regularly required to sit, talk, hear, and speak clearly.
- Frequently required to walk, use hands for handling, and reach with arms.
- Occasionally required to stand for moderate periods.
- Must frequently lift/move up to 10 lbs and occasionally up to 50 lbs.
- Requires close vision, peripheral vision, and ability to adjust focus.
