About the role
This position serves as an Automation MultiCraft Technician in a high-speed food processing facility, responsible for maintaining, troubleshooting, optimizing, installing, upgrading, calibrating, and repairing various types of equipment and components.
Responsibilities
- Maintain, troubleshoot, optimize, install, upgrade, calibrate, and repair electronic, electrical, mechanical, pneumatic, and hydraulic equipment and components.
- Fabricate, install, adjust, calibrate, repair, replace parts, dismantle, and rebuild electrical equipment/instruments to correct problems according to schematics and work instructions.
- Work with both AC and DC electrical systems with voltages up to 480 volts and utilize communication protocols such as 0–10 VDC, 4-20 mA, and various control signals.
- Read and understand electrical schematics, technical manuals, and use diagnostic test equipment like digital multimeters and computers with diagnostic and calibration software.
- Utilize power industrial equipment such as forklifts and scissors lifts.
- Identify and address safety hazards, wear appropriate personal protective equipment (PPE), and adhere to safety practices outlined by Iowa OSHA, NEC, NFPA, and company guidelines.
- Affirm compliance with HACCP, SOPs, work instructions, and Food Safety Quality requirements as mandated by company, state, and federal regulations.
- Complete accurate work logs and documentation, and use reporting systems for proper documentation of installation, maintenance, repair, replacement, modification, troubleshooting, diagnosis, and optimization.
- Collaborate with all levels of maintenance, production, and management personnel for optimization, troubleshooting, modification, installation, and repair of plant equipment and processes.
- Be prepared to work rotating shifts, extended hours, call-in overtime, weekends, and holidays as needed.
- Work in cold and hot environments, at heights greater than 10 feet, lift over 50 lbs., and perform tasks requiring crouching, crawling, and kneeling.
Requirements
- High School Diploma/GED and equivalent work experience in a technical field.
- 5-10 years' experience in food processing/manufacturing with proven experience in electrical, electronics, mechanical, hydraulic, and pneumatics.
Preferred Qualifications
- Associates degree in technical field or minimum two (2) years vocational/formal training in a maintenance field.
- Experience troubleshooting and problem-solving in a manufacturing/food processing environment.
- Four (4) years of PLC/control system troubleshooting/programming/repairing experience.
- Self-motivated, team-oriented, and excellent interpersonal skills.
- Experience working with Allen Bradley controls, Siemens, Schneider, Beckhoff, and various drive technologies.
