About the Role
With moderate direction from the Lead Technicians and Maintenance Supervisor, the Automated Maintenance Technician repairs, maintains, and assists operations across all departments to ensure Packaging Line and Manufacturing equipment availability. Plans projects as directed by leadership and completes required documentation to ensure compliance with cGMPs.
Responsibilities
- Ensures self and others comply with Current Good Manufacturing Practices, corporate policies, and procedures.
- Effectively troubleshoots and resolves difficult/advanced equipment issues using a systematic, logical approach to identify root causes and implement corrective and preventive actions.
- Fabricates and repairs failed components as needed.
- Performs intermediate-level programming of electronic devices, including VFDs, PLCs, and other controllers.
- Assists with the setup and operation of equipment.
- Identifies inefficiencies and improvements, offering effective solutions.
- Maintains adequate critical spare parts inventory for assigned functional areas.
- Assists with the procurement of parts and quotes for budgeted items.
- Coordinates installations of new equipment, modifications, and enhancements.
- Supports the engineering department with various projects and initiatives.
- Works with outside contractors and vendors.
- Maintains and repairs HVAC and supporting utility equipment.
- Performs or assists in the creation of calibrations, certifications, and preventive maintenance (PM) for equipment.
- Provides direction to Maintenance Technicians for complex issue resolution.
- Creates troubleshooting and rebuilding documentation guides.
- Provides support at meetings as directed.
Requirements
- Vocational degree in automated machinery systems or equivalent from a two-year college with an emphasis in electronics, mechanics, or technology and 0–3 years of related experience or high school diploma (or equivalent) and 5 years of experience in a manufacturing/industrial environment (pharmaceutical, biotech, food manufacturing, or electronics preferred).
- Demonstrated experience working with electrical controls, electronics, and fabrication skills.
- Proficiency and understanding of electronics, PLC programming, electrical controls, pneumatics, fluid power, encoders/resolvers, stepper motors, servo drives, VFDs, control loops, thermocouples, and safety systems.
Skills
- Decision-Making: Decisive and able to make informed decisions.
- Computer Literacy: Proficient in Microsoft Word and Excel; advanced understanding of computer operating systems, file management, and batch files. SAP knowledge is desired.
- Safety/Best Practices: Demonstrates and ensures compliance with required PPE use, including footwear, hearing protection, eye protection, respirator protection, and electrical PPE. Maintains a clean and safe workplace.
Certifications/Licenses
- Special Engineer Boiler License (or willingness to obtain one within the first 6 months of employment).
