Automation Engineer, Manufacturing

About the role

The Automation Engineer at Elanco is part of the Process Engineering Team, focusing on providing technical support for manufacturing process control systems. This role involves overseeing automated equipment networking and integration into the SCADA-OT network for data management. The engineer will collaborate with Operations, Quality, Maintenance, and Engineering teams to enhance automation processes. The position is critical in ensuring compliance with GxP requirements while improving existing systems.

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in Engineering or equivalent with a minimum of 3 years of experience in automation.
• In lieu of a BS degree, an Associate's degree with a Technical School Certificate in Industrial Controls or Industrial Electrical fields and a minimum of 5 years of experience in automation is acceptable.
• Experience with industrial electrical controls including VFDs, PLCs, and HMIs is required.

Responsibilities

• Support Operations and Maintenance by implementing improvements and troubleshooting electronics and process automation failures.
• Work with Engineering and IT teams to find and implement improvements to the Automation SCADA/OT network, equipment, and facilities.
• Lead or participate with teams to investigate process failures.
• Use PLC and HMI programming software to improve existing and support new equipment under Change Control and Computer System Validation requirements.
