Automation Engineer
Responsibilities
The person in this role will handle all aspects of the automation function, such as design, maintenance, construction, and installation of equipment modifications. They will troubleshoot issues related to production needs, start-up of new equipment, and development of new products and processes. They will optimize equipment utilization and efficiency by applying the latest developments in machine procedures, diagnostic equipment, and more reliable electrical components. They will develop practical solutions to repetitive equipment failure problems and contribute engineering expertise to project work and selection of replacement or new equipment.
They will ensure all equipment meets all company and governmental safety and health rules and regulations to ensure safety and wellbeing of employees. They will assist in the development of engineering or maintenance procedures and repairs to ensure they are safe, effective, and efficient. They will expand their knowledge of engineering and maintenance principles and practices.
They will maintain all plant OT network hardware and software. They will adhere to and support company quality, environmental, health & safety, and certification standards, including ISO 9001:2015, ISO 14001:2015, ISO 45001:2018, IATF 16949:2016, and ASI Certifications, where applicable.
Qualifications
- Minimum Qualifications: Bachelor's degree in electrical, automation or equivalent engineering degree or 10 years of practicing automation or controls engineering in a manufacturing environment
- Excellent communication (oral and written) skills; ability to communicate with all levels in the organization
- Desire to take initiative and develop a pro-active relationship with employees through follow-up, understanding their needs and fostering a collaborative relationship
- Must be flexible and able to operate in a fast-paced and demanding environment
- Must possess leadership skills to direct, lead and develop other personnel to accomplish personal, plant and corporate objectives
- Good computer skills and experience with autocad and or autocad electrical
- Working knowledge of hydraulics, pneumatics and machine safety
- Experience with Rockwell Automation PLC Controls Vendor and contractor management experience

Location Profile
Opened in 1985, the Uhrichsville facility produces flat rolled aluminum coil. The Recycling mill prepares scrap aluminum that is used in the rolling mill to create rolled aluminum coils to a desired gauge. Anneals temper the aluminum then it is leveled and sized to customer specification. Employing more than 400 people, the facility produces aluminum sheet for building and construction, automotive distribution, transportation, and consumer durable applications.
