Automation Engineer

About the role

Concentric Integration provides full-service automation of water/wastewater systems, including design, implementation, and support. The Automation Engineer will design, fabricate, program, install, commission/test, and support primarily Water/Wastewater control systems. These systems typically include process instrumentation, control panels, motor controls, power monitoring, PLCs, OITs/HMIs, SCADA/DCS Systems, industrial networking, IT infrastructure, radio/cellular telemetry, reporting, and data collection.

Responsibilities

• Provide conceptual design, solutions, and product specifications per end-user requirements.
• Provide in-house PLC/OIT/HMI programming and testing.
• Provide onsite work for municipal clients including instrumentation configuration, installation assistance, and control system and process start-up/testing.
• When skill level allows for independent work, take rotating weekly "on-call" duty (24/7) to troubleshoot instrumentation and control system issues, with a <15-minute initial phone response time to outages unless prior arrangements are made.
• Occasionally lift items up to 50 pounds without assistance.

Requirements

• 5+ years' experience as an Electrical/Controls Engineer performing design, programming, installation, and startup tasks.
• 5+ years’ experience programming Allen-Bradley Logix platform PLCs.
• 5+ years’ experience with fieldwork (panel wiring, startup, and emergency support/troubleshooting).
• 5+ years’ experience with SCADA software development (FactoryTalk View SE, Ignition, Wonderware, VTSCADA, or iFix).
• 3+ years’ experience programming Allen-Bradley PanelView or other manufacturer touch screens.
• Strong networking/computer skills, literacy, and proficiency.
• Excellent oral, written, and digital communication skills.
• Ability to interact effectively with staff, clients, engineers, and contractors.
• Effective organizational and time management skills for productive and efficient work.
• Commitment to regular self-development activities to stay technically sharp.
• Must provide own transportation (reimbursable) to drive to other locations.
• Relevant Engineering or Technology degree from an ABET-accredited program.
• Advanced computer and/or networking skills are a significant plus.
