Responsibilities

  • Leads the project management process inclusive of equipment planning, design, development and testing, and rate verification to support release of new products and product enhancements.
  • Communicates feedback/results to appropriate stakeholders within the organization at appropriate project milestones.
  • Performs feasibility study, estimate, quote, evaluate, specify and purchase capital equipment and tooling for new programs or modifications to existing programs to budget.
  • Interacts and directs vendors to provide equipment and tooling to our standards and performance expectations.
  • Develops time lines and maintains through follow up.
  • Understand and perform tolerance stack ups. Solid understanding of GD &T and datum scheme.
  • Ensures that the product is being manufactured to all engineering/customer and manufacturing specifications.
  • Provides technical support on all product launches both within the company.
  • Investigates and keeps abreast of new state of the art technologies which may enhance the profitability of the company.
  • Affords assistance in engineering and manufacturing feasibility studies.
  • Affords assistance in preparation of quotes.
  • Establishes program timing parameters and ensures schedules are maintained.
  • Analyzes and assists in tooling and manufacturing process.
  • Works with Process Engineers and related department managers/supervisors to plan and implement new or revised process flows for improving plant layout and efficiencies.
  • Affords assistance in the procuring and sourcing of tooling and equipment for new programs. Ensures said tooling/equipment complies with the companies and customer’s specifications, standards and expectations.
  • Dedicates efforts towards maximizing the profitability of the company.
  • Maintains the confidentiality of the company and its business.
  • Works in compliance with all legislative requirements of OSHA and accountable for specific health and safety responsibilities.
  • Must be able to work independently, present an image to customer of total company commitment, maintain ownership of projects and work effectively with others to Co-ordinate all aspects of the job.
  • Performs other duties as determined by the Assistant General Manager.

Qualifications And Requirements

  • EDUCATION And/or EXPERIENCE: Bachelor’s degree in mechanical, tool and die design or industrial engineering or equivalent experience. Ten years’ experience in engineering and automation. Having some tooling experience is a plus. Additionally, experience in a manufacturing facility especially automotive background is an asset.
  • Excellent problem solving techniques.
  • Some travel as required by company or customer.
  • Training in SPC, FMEA, DOE, PFMEA, DDI, GD&T, APQP.
  • Computer skills in the areas of databases, spreadsheets and word processing.
