About the Role

Develops, designs, builds, and tests robotic platforms from prototype through product commercialization. Creates integrated autonomous interfaces, mobility, communication, and human-robot interaction. Works with cross-functional teams to identify opportunities for robotic applications.

Schedule: Alternate 12-hour Weekend B Shift: Friday evening 6:30 pm – 7:00 am Monday morning.

Location: GD Lincoln West facility.

Responsibilities

  • Assists with the development and implementation of automation systems or components.
  • Supports or performs program installation, testing, and maintenance of robots or automated components.
  • Assists in the commissioning and deployment of new automation installations, conducts field trials, and prepares reports documenting actions or findings.
  • Investigates and troubleshoots defects or bugs, completes repairs, and provides preventative maintenance.
  • Maintains inventory of supplies and tools used for testing and maintenance.
  • Programs and troubleshoots PLCs and associated control systems.
  • Reads and understands equipment schematics.
  • Designs simple electronic control systems, specifies control equipment, and builds/installs control systems.

Requirements

  • Vocational/Technical Training Degree and 1–2 years of experience OR equivalent combination of relevant education and/or experience.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Associate’s Degree in a technical discipline.
  • Oral and written communication skills.
  • Ability to meet deadlines and attention to detail.
  • Problem-solving, mathematical, and computer skills.
  • Technical troubleshooting and test documentation experience.
  • Knowledge of control systems.

Physical Requirements

  • Regular movement throughout GD-OTS facilities.
  • Ability to lift up to 45 pounds.
  • May require standing for long periods.
  • Work may involve indoor/outdoor exposure to changing climate and/or operating machinery.
  • May be requested to work a different shift or outside normal business hours.

Travel

No or very little travel likely.
