About the Role

Develops, designs, builds, and tests robotic platforms from prototype through product commercialization. Creates integrated autonomous interfaces, mobility, communication, and human-robot interaction. Works with cross-functional teams to understand opportunities for robotic applications.

This position is located at our GD Lincoln West facility and follows an alternate 12-hour weekend shift: Friday morning 6:30 am to Sunday evening 7:00 pm.

Requires working knowledge and skills to perform analytical, scientific, or operational processes. Applies experience and skills to complete assigned work within own area of expertise, working within standard operating procedures and/or scientific methods with a moderate degree of supervision.

Responsibilities

  • Assists engineers with the development and implementation of automation systems or components.
  • Programs, installs, tests, and maintains robots or automated components.
  • Assists in the commissioning and deployment of new automation installations, conducts field trials to ensure appropriate operation, and prepares reports or records documenting actions or findings.
  • Investigates and troubleshoots defects or bugs, completes repairs, and provides preventative maintenance.
  • Programs and troubleshoots PLCs and associated control systems.
  • Reads and understands equipment schematics.
  • Designs simple electronic control systems, specifies control equipment, builds, and installs control systems.

Requirements

  • Vocational/Technical Training Degree and 2-5 years' experience OR equivalent combination of relevant education and/or experience.

Physical Requirements

  • Requires regular movement throughout GD-OTS facilities.

  • May be requested to work a different shift.

Travel Requirements

No or very little travel likely.
