Position Summary

Installs and repairs electrical-electronic-robotic systems, apparatus, and electrical and electronic components of industrial machinery and equipment. Works with staff and contractors as needed to improve efficiencies, reduce downtime, upgrade/automated equipment, and troubleshoot a wide range of equipment and specializing in robotic application.

  • Maintain a safe working environment by monitoring and applying safety standards.
  • Install, commission, and troubleshoot automated industrial electrical-electronic controls and installations.
  • Provide PLC systems support, robotic applications, including PLC and HMI programming.
  • Provide electrical-electronic support, including but not limited to, troubleshooting and component setup.
  • Provide mechanical support, including but not limited to, assembly, disassembly, and rebuild of automated production equipment and systems.
  • Diagnose and repair or replace faulty electronic components or logic.
  • Interact and communicate with internal customers, including manufacturing, engineers, project managers, and management personnel.
  • Prioritize workload and shift work activities to meet plant needs.
  • Test malfunctioning machinery and determine technical issues and potential remedies.
  • Replace faulty electrical components of machines such as relays, switches, and motors, and position sensing devices.
  • Review equipment schematics/manuals for specifications concerning part placement and installation.
  • Replace electric motor bearings and rewire motors.
  • Diagnose and replace faulty mechanical, hydraulic, and pneumatic components of machines and equipment.
  • Periodically scheduled for off-hours/emergency call-ins to repair equipment or other technical-related problems.
  • Promote safety awareness and keep safety as a top priority on a daily basis.
  • Optimize existing equipment capacity and anticipate utilization demands or equipment inhibitors.
  • Provide technical expertise directly or assist staff in troubleshooting systems and equipment.

Qualifications

  • Associates degree in Electrical Engineering, Electronic Technology or related field and/or two (2) years of direct experience with automated equipment or machine assembly.
  • Experience with networking (ethernet, serial, and data highway) and factory automation and their applicable software.

Requisite Knowledge, Skills And Abilities

  • Working knowledge of PLCs (modern Studio 5000 and legacy RsLogix 500 Allen Bradley SLC PLCs, Siemens), FANUC Robots, Cognex Vision Systems, VFDs, & HMI programming.
  • Detailed knowledge of instrumentation and control systems for sensors, electronics, mechanics, pneumatics and hydraulics.
  • Ability to read electrical and mechanical blueprints/schematics.
  • Good verbal, written, and interpersonal communication skills.
  • Advanced understanding of safety and e-stop systems.
  • Advanced troubleshooting of electrical components such as, but not limited to, PLC’s, AC & DC drives, relay logic, single loop controllers, pneumatics & hydraulics, robots and vision systems.
  • Ability to create advanced control systems and programs for process and operational control.
