About the role

The Controls Project Engineer supports the successful execution of Automated Logic building automation projects by providing engineering, technical, and coordination support from project kickoff through commissioning and closeout. This role bridges project management, controls engineering, field operations, and customers to ensure systems are delivered in accordance with contract documents, company standards, and customer expectations.

Key Responsibilities

  • Support BMS projects from award through closeout in alignment with Automated Logic project execution standards.
  • Review contract documents, control drawings, sequences of operation, and specifications to ensure scope clarity and technical accuracy.
  • Aid in the development, review, and management of controls submittals, including network architecture, panel layouts, point lists, and sequences.
  • Support controls design and engineering efforts, including controller selection, system architecture, and integration strategies.
  • Aid with programming support activities, including review of control logic, graphics, alarms, and trends.
  • Cover integration of third-party systems using BACnet, Modbus, and other approved protocols.
  • Coordinate with Project Managers, Controls Engineers, Field Engineers, subcontractors, and vendors.
  • Track material procurement, panel fabrication, and equipment lead times to support project schedules.
  • Participate in project meetings, site coordination meetings, and design reviews.
  • Aid with RFIs, scope clarifications, and change documentation.
  • Provide technical support to field teams during installation, checkout, startup, and commissioning.
  • Support point-to-point checkout, functional testing, and system commissioning activities.
  • Aid with system verification to ensure performance aligns with sequences of operation and owner requirements.
  • Aid with preparation of as-built documentation, O&M manuals, graphics packages, and final project turnover materials.
  • Aid with customer training preparation and system demonstrations.
  • Ensure compliance with Automated Logic standards, Carrier policies, cybersecurity guidelines, and applicable codes.
  • Promote safety and quality throughout all phases of project execution.
  • Capture lessons learned and contribute to continuous improvement of controls engineering and delivery processes.

Basic Qualifications

  • A High School Diploma or GED
  • 3+ years of Building Automation and Controls experience and/or 3+ years prior Project Management or Supervisory experience
  • 1+ years of experience with the Microsoft Office Suite
  • A Clean and valid driver’s license

Preferred Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s Degree from a recognized college or university in building HVAC with a focus on building automation controls (3- or 4-year program)
  • Strong problem solving, planning and project management skills
  • Ability to read and understand scope of work
  • Exceptional written and verbal communication skills
  • Field experience and an understanding of the installation and operation of Automated Logic Controls and ability to understand/navigate third party control systems and integrations.
  • Some experience with Automated Logic and Phoenix software to include: WebCtrl, SiteBuilder, ViewBuilder, LogicBuilder, InterOp 3.02, Alert, Draw, EDB, Eikon, Supervision, and Accel Works.
  • Prior experience in Construction, HVAC and/or Building Automation preferred
  • Experience in dealing with a number of simultaneous challenges, requiring knowledge of many different disciplines
  • A true team player who has the customer’s best interests first and foremost

Pay Range

The annual salary for this position is between $79,000.00 - $158,000.00 annually. Factors which may affect pay within this range include, but are not limited to, skills, education, experience, and other unique qualifications of the successful candidate.

Other Compensation

This position may be entitled to short-term cash incentives, subject to plan requirements.
