AutoCAD Technician (Land Surveying)

About the role

Tectonic is excited to offer an excellent growth opportunity for a full-time AutoCAD Technician with AutoCAD drafting experience to join our Land Surveying Department based within our Orange County, NY office.

Responsibilities

  • Performing reduction of survey field data, photographs, and sketches
  • The calculations of and analysis of field data to develop detailed technical survey plans
  • Preparation of survey maps, including boundary and topographic surveys, plans, cross sections, and profiles using CADD methods
  • Communicating with project managers, surveyors, and colleagues to modify drawings in accordance with project specifications
  • Printing, copying, scanning, and organizing CADD drawings
  • Occasional site visits may be required from time to time

Qualifications

  • Minimum 1+ years of on the job experience in Civil Engineering or Land Surveying using AutoCAD 2024 or newer is desired
  • Point Cloud experience is preferred
  • Land Surveying experience is strongly preferred
  • HS Diploma/equivalent required
  • Associate's Degree or Certificate Program in Architecture, Drafting, or similar is a plus
  • Must be detail oriented, with effective written and verbal communication skills
  • Functional knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite
  • Valid, clean driver's license

Physical Requirements

  • Frequent stationary position
  • Handling, inspecting, and/or feeling documents, materials, and/or equipment relevant to the job
  • Communicating about same
  • Processing manual and computer generated documents
  • Using the Corporate e-mail and telephone systems
  • Close vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus
  • Moving around on a job-site, including ascending or descending on the landscape or on a ladder, and positioning themselves appropriately to obtain necessary specifications
  • Lifting and/or moving equipment and materials up to 10 lbs
  • Operating a motor-vehicle, which may require assuming a stationary position for extended periods of time
