Responsibilities
- Draft, edit, & finalize technical drawings for civil and site design projects
- Transfer information from an engineering drawing to a final CAD drawing using appropriate symbols and drafting standards
- Analyze sketches, notes and other input material to determine best approach to complete drawings
- Copy detailed plans and drawings and perform non-routine complex drafting assignments
- Operate plotter, printer, scanner, and other input/output devices
- Proofread CAD drawings for accuracy, format, and grammar
- Collaborate to improve CAD standards and efficiencies across the company
- Work collaboratively with Engineers and Project Managers to prepare design drawings and details
- Review completed work products to ensure quality
- Associate degree or Bachelors in Drafting and Design Technology preferred; or High school diploma and a minimum of two (2) years’ experience performing AutoCAD drafting work in a professional setting; or Equivalent education, experience and training that provides the requisite knowledge, skills, and abilities
- Knowledge of civil engineering basics including sheet organization, topographical data, scales, and coordinate systems
- Experience developing and working with grading plans, cross-sections, alignments, profiles, three-dimensional surfaces, and earthwork volumes for landfills and other large civil design projects
- Experience using/incorporating land or aerial surveying/mapping data and files
- Experience with stormwater management is a plus
- Experience using the latest releases of Autodesk AutoCAD is required
- Experience in Civil3d is preferred
- Strong reasoning, mathematical, and geometrical skills
- Ability to perform basic math skills including applying concepts such as fractions, percentages, ratios and proportions to practical situations, and fundamentals of geometry and trigonometry
- Ability to read, analyze and interpret red line drawings from Engineers, CAD Managers, or others on the project team
- Strong communication skills to include the ability to understand and follow complex verbal and written instructions, and the ability to interact effectively to maintain a team environment
- Able to provide status updates independently
