The Role
The Auto Collector is responsible for conducting collection functions to reduce overall delinquency and prevent losses. This position performs outreach to members with delinquent auto loans, as well as activities that support repossession and liquidation of vehicle-secured assets.
Responsibilities
- Work to proactively reduce delinquency in the auto loan portfolio in accordance with the Credit Union’s policies and procedures while maintaining compliance with all state and federal collection laws and regulations.
- Assign units for repossession, monitor active repossession assignments, process redemption and liquidation of repossessed assets, handle and process of CPI and/or other auto-related insurance claims.
- Handle and make outbound calls to member contacts (calls, emails, etc.).
- Prepare necessary paperwork for collateral repossession.
- Process vehicle redemptions and accounts for charge-offs.
- Analyze and maintain past-due auto loans to prevent further delinquency.
- Research and analyze accounts using collections software and other sources.
- Counsel members on reduced and deferred payments.
- Ensure compliance with relevant laws and regulations and manage risks within assigned responsibilities.
- Ensure satisfactory work production with third-party vendors.
Requirements
This position requires a high school diploma (or equivalent) and any equivalent combination of experience and education.
