About the role

1.0 FTE Special Education teaching position for students with Autism Spectrum Disorders (ASD) at Northpoint Elementary School (grades K-4) for the 2026-2027 school year. The successful candidate will:

• Firmly believe all students can and will learn, with learning influenced by factors within our control;
• Work interdependently with teachers, school, and district leaders to align efforts around improving student learning;
• Partner with staff to continuously enhance practices for student and family engagement, fostering equity, excellence, and student success;
• Personalize learning to meet academic, social, and emotional needs, ensuring each student feels valued and achieves academic success.

Responsibilities

• Create and deliver ability- and age-appropriate lessons in a setting 3 classroom;
• Lead a team of paraprofessionals in meeting students' needs;
• Communicate with parents to provide regular updates on student successes and challenges;
• Collaborate with principals, special education coordinators, staff, and professional learning communities to ensure student needs are met;
• Maintain student records of services provided, following Due Process best practices and compliance;
• Act as a Case Manager for students in your classroom and participate in IEP and evaluation summary meetings;
• Perform other related duties as assigned.

Requirements

• A current Minnesota Special Education Teaching License in ASD or ABS;
• The ability to lift up to 50 pounds (and/or up to adult-size body weight with a two-to-three-person lift).

Qualifications

Preferred experience/knowledge includes:

• Successfully working with students with Autism Spectrum Disorders (ASD) and a strong desire to do so;
• Writing solid Behavior Intervention Plans (BIPs);
• Applying current trends in behavior interventions and support;
• Utilizing standardized assessment tools;
• Effectively collaborating with a team;
• Constructively communicating with parents/guardians and team members.

Pay

$53,228–$107,781 per school year (placement determined based on experience and qualifications; salary pro-rated based on start date).
