Duties Description

Assist in the audit and investigation of banks, insurance companies, utilities, stockbrokers, collateral loan makers, or any other organization that may hold unclaimed property to ensure accurate and complete reporting and remittance of unclaimed property to the State Comptroller.

Requirements

• Must have a valid driver’s license.
• Must be able to travel daily within the Metro-NYC area and overnight (Weekly) out of state.

Qualifications

• For Auditor Trainee 1 Abandoned Property: Bachelor's degree including or supplemented by 24 undergraduate or graduate semester credit hours in accounting and/or auditing.
• For Auditor Trainee 2 Abandoned Property: Bachelor’s degree including or supplemented by 24 undergraduate or graduate semester credit hours in accounting and/or auditing AND one year of professional accounting and/or auditing experience.
• For Auditor 1 Abandoned Property (SG-18): Bachelor’s degree including or supplemented by 24 undergraduate or graduate semester credit hours in accounting and/or auditing AND two years of professional accounting and/or auditing experience.

Skills

• Familiarity with accounting and auditing practices.
• Experience using computers and software programs.
• Ability to compile data and produce reports based upon findings.
• Good understanding of professional protocols.
• Ability to work well in a team environment.
